International Staff Training Week at the University of Jena

From 24 to 30 June 2018 the International Office of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU) invites staff from 20 international partner universities to the 2. International Staff Training Week (ISTW).
The main topic of our training will focus on ‘Student Incoming Service’. Therefore we will share our experiences of the incoming unit with you and would ask you for best practice presentations from your incoming field.
Colleagues of FSU Jena will present the following topics:
- Mentoring / buddy programme
- Procedures of registration and enrolment
- Management of Learning Agreements
- International Welcome Café
- Welcome Center
The goal is to collect best practice examples by using these and your own presentations. At the end of the week, the best experiences will be summarized in a compendium / guide.
With a cultural programme during this week, the international guests become acquainted with the historical city of Jena and its cultural region Thuringia (Weimar, Erfurt). The programme includes, for example, the opening of the International Week in Schiller’s Garden House – a historical treasure of our university, a guided tour through the historical city of Jena, an introduction to the large and extraordinary collections of FSU Jena such as Herbarium Haussknecht and the Botanical Garden.
