Behind every milestone, project, and collaboration of the Coimbra Group, there has been a dedicated team working tirelessly at our Brussels Office. As we celebrate 40 Years, we reflect on the journey of our Office – its growth, achievements, and the incredible people who shaped it.

Key milestones in our history:
1989 – The Coimbra Group Office is established in Brussels
1991 – The Declaration of Coimbra is adopted, setting the foundation for the legal framework of the CG Office.
April 1992 – The Office is legally registered as a Belgian non-profit organization, securing its formal status.
1993 – The Office relocates and welcomes its first full-time secretary.
2002 – The first Coimbra Group website is launched, marking a new digital era for our network.

From its early days as a small administrative hub to becoming a strategic center for European university collaboration, the Coimbra Group Office remains at the heart of our network’s success. Many of the amazing colleagues who made this possible are featured in the photos – but many more are missing! Over the years, the Office has also greatly benefited from the contributions of numerous interns, whose dedication and work have been invaluable.

While the Coimbra Group Office has played a crucial role over the years, its impact would not have been possible without the collaboration of individuals across every single member university. Their dedication and engagement continue to drive our collective success!
