Biomedical ageing research crucial for the Future of a Healthy Ageing European society

23 July 2019

Open Session
Brussels, 9th October 2019, 10h15 – 12h
Rue du Trône, 62

The Coimbra Group Life Sciences Working Group organised a conference in Brussels under the topic of Ageing. The event took place in Brussels on the 9th October 2019 and it aimed at drawing attention to the need of investment into basic research in biomedical ageing as a means to achieve healthy ageing.
A group of researchers have developed a policy paper which served as a motto for the conference: “Significant investment into biomedical ageing research is essential for achieving healthy ageing amid a worldwide demographic change with 2 billion elderly individuals in 2050. The logistical and financial burdens of a chronically ill ageing society outweigh by far the required investments into research & development.”
