Tomáš Zima graduated from the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague, in 1990, after he worked at the Institute of Medical Chemistry and Biochemistry of the First Faculty of Medicine. In 1999, he switched to the Institute of Medical Biochemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics, which he led until now. In 2001, Mr. Tomáš Zima became a professor of medical chemistry and biochemistry. He also specialises in clinical biochemistry, internal medicine and nephrology.
Professor Tomáš Zima was the Dean of the First Faculty of Medicine between 2005-2012 and since 2014 he became the Rector of Charles University and the President of the Czech Rectors’ Conference. Prof. Tomáš Zima is a member of UNICA Steering Committee and a member of EUROPAEUM Board of Trustees since 2016. Prof. Tomáš Zima is an author of more than 450 articles, citated more then 3400 (SCI), 8 books and the co-author of 71 chapters in books, H-index is 31. He gives more than 140 lectures abroad. Prof. Tomáš Zima is a member in many learned and scientific societies (e.g. Academia Europea, Czech Medical Academy, Czech Learned Society), their Boards (e.g. member of Executive Board EFLM) and a member of the European Commission’s Scientific Panel for Health (SPH).
